LED Lighting for Schools: Emerson Valley School

A school that encourages regular litter picks and trips to the local recycling centre, Emerson Valley School is hugely passionate about the environment. Emerson Valley is a four- form entry junior school, serving a diverse, vibrant and wonderful community, in the Western Flank of Milton Keynes.


Emerson Valley’s lighting was old and degraded, providing a poor learning environment for pupils and staff. Increasing energy bills coupled with costly maintenance and repairs further impacted their budget. The school wanted to create a brighter, more motivating learning environment to enthuse both students and staff and also lower their carbon footprint.

Bespoke solution

Ineco Energy worked with Emerson Valley to understand their requirements and explain the fully funded options available through the Salix Government Scheme and the Carbon Trust. Ineco undertook a comprehensive lighting audit followed by bespoke lighting designs for each room to meet the schools requirements, relevant lighting standards, and funding criteria.
Ineco handheld Emerson Valley through the funding applications and were successfully awarded £8,191 non-repayable contribution from the Carbon Trust and interest-free Salix funding for the balance of the project, meaning there was no upfront cost to the school.

Ineco installed 286 high-quality, energy-efficient LED luminaires from Dextra Lighting. Light quality across the school is significantly improved using 20% fewer fittings, delivering significant energy, cost, and carbon savings.

Full funding and ongoing support

Ineco Energy’s solution didn’t cost the school a penny and delivered cost savings from day one. The school also benefits from a 5-year full warranty giving peace of mind and zero maintenance costs for years to come.
